The Core Team

Becca is a broad spectrum geek and is as much a geek about geekiness as she is about any one specific geekery! However, her hyperfocus leans towards overly ambitious craft projects, from cake decorating to lino cutting and to the creation of 3D mmmmagic across Second Life and Blender.  Never one to read instructions, she’ll try until she succeeds (and is not always the most lovely person in the middle of the panic that she’s taken on more than she can do!).

Becca’s faith errs towards the mystic/spiritual/Kingdom-y realm of Christian practice – where a deep, tangible, real experience of God meets with an achy yearning for the place that isn’t here yet, a place where love and justice shape everything!  Her quest, therefore, is to remember to sink down deep enough to soak up Godliness so that it fuels the love and justice work that are hers to do while walking with others so they can do the same.

Becca is delighted to be part of the F&G team, loves meeting new friends and longs for you to feel loved and worthy, to have a deep sense of belonging to this bunch of weird and wonderful holy misfits, each on our own quest!

Geeky loves: Sci Fi (Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly), fantasy (particularly post-apocalypse-y stories), trashy novels, Animation (esp. Disney), dating-, cooking-, pottery thrown down- type shows, the practices of faith, computer games that involve building/creating environments (with a smattering of farming), musicals, digital choreography and set design, story telling, gardening, the power of words, the energy when people start to talk with passion about their ‘thing’ (whatever it is).

Does not love: intolerance, exclusion, any of the -isms, certain types of competition/comparison (the killer of joy), peas.

Jen’s peak geekiness is around Disney Parks, board games and her two lovely kids. She’a the token Anglican of the bunch (and a vicar to boot) but only barely because her faith is best described as ‘pretty damn liberal’. She gets super passionate about justice-based issues, is a die-hard feminist and happily describes Jesus as a social reformer. She thinks love is love, and wishes the Church of England would stop being so ridiculous.

Her biggest buzz is getting to talk to others about what sets them on fire but she also enjoys a good jigsaw puzzle, reading, DnD, quizzes and stationary. She is a part of the Faith and Geekery team, most often behind the scenes but sometimes seen in the podcast, and she  apologises in advance for any bad language you may or may not hear her use.

Mark is a self-identified geek and happy to explore and run down any rabbit hole that involves Doctor Who, Sci-fi films, Marvel, Lego, Computer Games, Video editing, Painting, AR, 3D Printers, D&D, Running and many, many board games. [side eyes the camera] There is a possibility that undiagnosed ADHD may be a factor amidst the warren of these hobbies.

Mark is a Christian and Methodist church leader based in the U.K., non judgy and believes that across our varied passions, interests and hobbies in life it can help us to reflect on the idea and closeness of God (in their broadest sense) and how we can celebrate the world around us in all of it’s quirks and hyperfocuses.

The extent to Tim’s neurospicey-aided knowledge and geekiness has yet to reach the bottom of the barrel! If you want some geeky fact, want to extol the virtue of a long forgotten single series of TV, or a niche movie that was direct to VHS, or even sing the praises of a lesser know Video Game: Tim is not only likely to have heard of it, but will join in with you on geeking out about it!

A former TTRPG Actual Play streamer and DM, as well as one-time published author for DND content, Tim has been around a variety of geeky spaces, and is always willing to jump down someone else’s passionate rabbit hole to discover something new!

Tim’s day job, much like most of his life, has been centred around the church and his faith is constantly going through stages of shifting and changing. So if you wanted a chat with him about anything from comics, games, books, theology, the church, or tea…then just give a shout and the kettle will go on!

Current* Geeky Obsessions: Tea, Rivers of London, Daredevil, Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Magnus Protocall.
